What is in the solution that causes the skin to tan?
The bronzer helps the technician see where to spray. The solution’s main ingredients are dihydroxyacetone (DHA) and Erythrulose, both naturally occurring fruit sugars that react with the amino acids in the top layers of your skin to turn it brown.
How should I prepare for my tanning session?
You should exfoliate before your tanning treatment, preferably the night before. Shave or wax at least one day before your appointment. Don’t wear make-up, deodorant or moisturisers to your appointment. To ensure best results, stay hydrated.
What do I wear?
Less is best to eliminate tan lines, but whatever you’re comfortable with is fine. Wear loose clothing after treatment.
How long before I can shower or work out?
Depending on your treatment, avoid any contact with water until it’s time to rinse off. Unless you’re sprayed with the Rapid, we recommend you wait at least 6 to 8 hours before rinsing off or working out to allow your tan to properly develop. Rapid solutions should be rinsed off no more than 2 hours from the time of your session. Gently wash with mild body wash and gently pat dry with a towel (don’t rub).
Will the colour rinse off in the shower?
The cosmetic bronzer will wash off with your first shower. By the time the 6 to 8 hours is up, the DHA will have developed a bronzed glow.
How long will my tan last?
Tans normally last from 7 to 10 days with proper moisturising. Results can vary depending on skin types. Again, stay hydrated for best results. Using cleansers with AHAs, harsh soaps, make-up remover and toners will all stripe your tan.
Will swimming affect my tan?
Chlorine will fade your tan.
Does a spray tan provide SPF protection?
No, spray tans don’t provide any sunscreen protection.
Will I be tanned once I wash my Rapid tan off after an hour?
Rapid should stay on your skin for at least an hour and for a maximum of 2 hours. Once you rinse off, your tan will start to show around the 2 to 3 hour mark, and keep getting darker for 24 hours.
